Gowanda Electronics Adds Cleanroom Facilities

Investment Supports Medical, Military, and other High-Performance Applications

GOWANDA, N.Y.—Two Class 100,000 cleanrooms recently installed at the production and engineering facilities of Gowanda Electronics in upstate New York will enable the company to provide a higher level of component manufacturing services to customers with applications requiring control of environmental contaminants, the company said in a statement announcing the installation. Gowanda Electronics, a manufacturer of high-performance inductors and other precision electronic components for RF and power applications, is reportedly the first inductor manufacturer to install multiple cleanrooms. According to the company, the cleanrooms support applications in medical devices and military systems, among others, and can be upgraded to Class 10,000 as needed to meet customer requirements.

As the trend towards miniaturization continues, and products and systems get smaller and more sensitive, the need to control particulates and other forms of contamination will become more important and more critical to overall performance in medical, military/defense, and commercial applications. The cleanrooms at Gowanda Electronics can be utilized for a variety of production operations, ranging from complete multi-step component manufacture (wind, assemble, package) to perhaps just one performance-critical operation, depending on the customer’s need. Quantities can range from prototype volumes to full-scale production volumes.

Gowanda Electronics (www.gowanda.com) is a privately held company that designs, manufactures, and supplies precision electronic components for RF and power applications. Components manufactured by the company include standard off-the-shelf and custom-designed inductors, chokes, toroids, and other surface mount devices that are used in a variety of electronic applications. Gowanda is certified to the AS9100, ISO 9001, and ISO13485 quality management standards and offers RoHS compliant products, as well as lead-containing components, for QPL military/defense and other demanding requirements.
