Omnetics Announces Newest Addition to Nano Circular Family

Threaded Metal Housing Enables a Positive Lock and Environmental Seal

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.—Omnetics Connector Corporation, a manufacturer of micro and nano miniature interconnect products, has added a threaded metal shell circular to its nano family of products. Reported to be the “smallest Mil-Quality circulars available,” the connectors have a threaded metal shell that provides a positive lock while compressing an O-ring to provide a waterproof interfacial seal. According to Omnetics, the circular connectors can withstand high shock and vibrations while maintaining electrical integrity, and are reportedly suitable for the most demanding applications where size is critical.

The high density multi-position connectors are available in four shell sizes: 6, 11, 16, and 28 positions arranged on a 0.025-inch (0.64 mm) pitch, are capable of 1 amp per contact, and can be configured with different levels of waterproof sealing up to IP-68. A variety of shell material and finishes are available, including nickel-plated brass and black oxide stainless steel. Utilizing a military-quality contact system, the connectors are well suited for mission-critical applications where size, weight, and reliability are crucial.

“These nano circulars are ideal for hand-held and body-worn electronics in rugged environments,” said Mike Loge, technical sales, in a statement issued by Omnetics. “They are great choices for military radios and headsets, as well as body-worn medical monitoring equipment. These nano circulars are solving design challenges where size and space are premium commodities.”

Omnetics (www.omnetics.com) was formed in 1984 to deliver rugged, reliable interconnect solutions for the most demanding industries. The company has a fully integrated design and manufacturing plant in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
