KEMET Adds New Part Types to Ceramic Capacitor Series

GREENVILLE, S.C.—Several new part types recently released by KEMET Corporation are reported to offer higher capacitance for defense and aerospace applications while maintaining the quality and reliability of the company’s space-grade components. The capacitor manufacturer has added the new part types to its GR900 High Reliability Series ceramic capacitors, which KEMET produces under tightly-controlled manufacturing processes. Termination options include 100% tin (Sn Plated); 100% gold (Au Plated); 70Sn/30Pb (solder plated); and 70Sn/30Pb (solder coated).

According to KEMET, the capacitors “achieve state-of-the-art performance by virtue of carefully selected materials, robust designs, and meticulous inspection throughout the process.” The additions to the GR900 series have allowed KEMET to extend capacitance offerings in the same package, therefore saving much valuable board space as well as extend portfolio voltage offerings into the 16V and 25V rated ranges.

“KEMET’s GR900 series set the industry standard for space level component qualification and was the precursor for Space Level standard MIL-PRF-123, which the high-reliability industry recognizes today,” stated Travis Ashburn, KEMET’s director of product management, in a statement announcing the release.

KEMET (www.kemet.com) manufactures tantalum, multilayer ceramic, solid aluminum, plastic film, paper, and electrolytic capacitors. The company’s capacitors include surface-mount and through-hole capacitor technologies.
